India’s Specific Identity Authority (UIDAI) today said in a statement that the Plastic or PVC Aadhaar smart cards are frequently not available as the QR code is usually defective in certain vendor/shop during such unauthorized printing. There may also be the risk of exchanging Aadhaar data (personal sensitive demographic information) with other devious elements without informed consent.
UIDAI reiterated that Aadhaar letter or its cutaway section or downloaded variants of Aadhaar on ordinary paper or mAadhaar are perfectly legitimate and citizens should not yearn for the so-called Aadhaar smart card as it that lead them to fall into the ploys of those unscrupulous elements that print Aadhaar on a plastic / PVC sheet and charge it somewhere between Rs.50 and Rs.300 or more.
UIDAI has requested citizens to separate themselves from these elements/shops/vendors. Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of UIDAI said, “The so-called Aadhaar Smart Card is totally useless and a waste, as its QR code is always defective during such printing. For all sorts of uses, the Aadhaar card or the downloaded Aadhaar card printed on ordinary paper or mAadhaar is perfectly true.”
“If a person has a paper Aadhaar card, there is absolutely no need to laminate his / her Aadhaar card or get a plastic Aadhaar card or so called smart Aadhaar card by paying money. There is no definition like an Aadhaar card with smart or plastic, “Dr. Pandey added.
If an individual loses his Aadhaar card, he can download his Aadhaar card from https:/eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in at no price. Even in black and white type, the print out of the downloaded Aadhaar card is as accurate as of the initial UIDAI Aadhaar text. There is simply no need to print on or laminate it on the plastic / PVC sheet.
CEO UIDAI urged citizens to be careful in order to preserve their privacy and suggested that they should not share their Aadhaar number or personal information with unauthorized entities for lamination or plastic card printing.
UIDAI advised unauthorized entities not to collect Aadhaar details from the general public for the purposes of printing Aadhaar cards, such as gathering such details or illegal printing of Aadhaar cards or supporting these individuals in some way constitutes a criminal offense punishable by the Indian Penal Code and the Aadhaar Act, 2016.

Most of us find this may error with our Aadhaar card or Driving license as well. We also have the initial card laminated to secure it from wear and tear.
